I joined because I felt an obligation to my grandfather, after he passed (retired from FDNY).

I also soon found that I enjoy the danger aspects, camaraderie, educational experience, social connections, and all the other benefits that come with the job.

I found several years ago, firefighters are one of the best role models out there for kids. For my kid's sake, I wanted to teach them respect, honor, integrity, discipline, courage, dedication, and dependability.

With all the sports figures out there today, getting into trouble and expecting their money to get them out of it, I wanted to show my kids, my friend's kids, and other children that they can become a "hero" by governing their own actions and believing in what they do.
