When I was a small boy, my ambitions when I was growing up was to be a firefighter, unfortunately, as I got older, I realised that I do not like heights.
I have connections with the fire brigade as I now work as a volunteer at the FIRE AND POLICE MUSEUM based at WEST BAR FIRE AND POLICE MUSEUM, WEST BAR, SHEFFIELD, which is based in the old police and fire station, which was built in the early 20th century (I also believe the building has its very own ghost).
We provide lots of fire service displays ranging from firefighting kits and uniforms, books, and lots of other items from all over the world.
We also hold fire engine rides, and other annual events, I particularly love meeting the members of the public and enjoy the banter with them and the other guys that I work with.
I would have loved to have been a firefighter, but I guess what I do is going to be the closest I will ever get to being connected with the fire rescue service in the UK.
