The Ultimate Fireman Party

What could possibly qualify as the "ultimate fireman party"?

Well, you are about to find out.

Here is my idea of the ultimate firefighter party:

Go to a real fire station and have the best birthday party ever!

That's right. I'm talking about your child and all the friends and relatives celebrating that special day at an actual fire station.

How can that happen?

It's easy!

Just start by picking up the phone.

Here is how you can set up a fireman birthday party at your local fire station:

Now wasn't that easy?

I know what you are about to ask, "How do we go about contacting the fire station?"

Well, there are a couple of ways of doing this:

  • Stop by the station in person.

  • Call your local fire department and ask for the phone number to the station closest to your home.

  • Send an e-mail request to the contact person on the fire department's web site.

Now, before you contact the fire station regarding setting up the fireman party, keep in mind that there is no guarantee that you will be able to have the party on the date you requested.

The simple reason is that there may be something already scheduled for that particular date (training, drills, inspections, etc.). So, if you can be a little flexible, that will help.

Note:Since most fire departments work rotating shifts (24 hours on/48 hours off)the crew who is working the day you stop by the station may not be working the day of the event.

Also, since firefighters are in the emergency business, something might come up on the day of the party, so there is no guarantee that the firefighters will be there (they might be at a fire).

But, let's think positive!

Let me tell you some of the things your child may be able to do at the fire station:

  • Climb all over the fire truck and pretend to drive it.

  • Tour the fire station.

  • Blow the siren and horn on the fire truck.

  • Squirt water from a real fire hose.

  • Put on a firefighter's actual turn out gear.

  • Wear a fireman's helmet (heavy).

  • Maybe even ride on a fire truck!

Now doesn't this just sound like fun?

Of course you may be thinking, "Will I be able to bring all the cool fireman party decorations to the fire station?"

More than likely you will, but make sure you ask first. Things like balloons, tablecloths, plates, etc. should not be a problem.

These supplies can easily be cleaned up.

This brings us to a second option for the ultimate firefighter party.

Why not have the fire truck and firefighters come to your house?

What a great idea!

This way you will be able to go all out with your fire truck theme and not have to worry about the clean up when the party is over.

Here is how you go about setting up an appointment for a fire truck to come to your house:

  • Use the information above about calling the fire station closest to your house.

  • Explain that you would like the firefighters to stop by at your address on the date and time of the event.

  • Tell them that you know they can not stay long, but any amount of time would be great.

Now, here is the deal on requesting a fire truck.

More than likely, only the station that is closest to your house would be able to come, as the fire crew will need to stay in their assigned territory of coverage.

The firefighters will still be "in service" which means they are subject to respond to a call at anytime.(They carry radios when they are away from the station).

Does this sound like it could definitely be the ultimate fireman party?
