Fire Truck Theme
The Fire Truck Theme is where we decide on all the decorating ideas.
Probably the best way to approach the decorating is to do a "top to bottom" strategy. In other words, let's start our fire truck theme decorating at the ceiling and work our way down. That way we will be less likely to leave anything out. The first thing that I think about when it comes to ceilings are balloons!
Why is that? Because whenever those Mylar helium filled balloons get loose they go straight up! I guess if you tied them down they would stay put, but they are not nearly as much fun that way. As you can imagine, the fire truck theme balloons come in all different shapes and sizes, not to mention some really cool fire department graphics. As far as sizes go, this bunch on the right are made of latex and are about 11", while the big fire truck pictured above is made of Mylar and is around 33" inches.
No wonder they call it a "Jumbo" balloon!
Next on our list of ceiling decorations are crepe paper rolls. Often referred to as streamers, these rolls are very versatile as they add festive colors at a very low cost. The crepe paper rolls can be draped from the corners of the rooms to the center of the ceiling. Or, you can start at the corners and drape the streamers parallel with the walls. You can also have the streamers hang straight down in the corners OR a combination of any of the above. Note: Adding a little "twist" to the paper as you hang it gives it more of a decorative look. Let your imagination run wild as the crepe paper rolls are available in all kinds of colors. Safety tip: Just make sure the crepe paper does not get near any source of flame or heat (candle or light bulb, etc.) as this could pose a fire hazard. Last on our list for ceiling items is one of my favorites...
A fire truck pinata!Pinatas are so much fun and if stuffed with lots of candy, equally fun to eat. Most of the pinatas can be purchased empty, which allows you to add whatever "stuffing" you choose. Traditionally, candy and gum are placed inside so that when the pinata is broken open, all the goodies come pouring out. You may choose also to put party favors or other toys inside the pinata if you are trying to stay away from sweets. Depending on the age of the child, you can decide how to go about "busting open" the pinata. Usually a broom stick will work just fine as it will take several whacks before the candy comes out. For older children you may want to use a blindfold and even spin them around a couple of times just to level out the playing field.
Now as we move along in our fire truck theme we will need to decorate the walls.
As we already mentioned, we used crepe paper rolls to add color and festivity to the top portions of the walls.
Our next step is to place banners and wall decals to reinforce the theme (you can never have too much fire department stuff). Notice the vinyl decals on the right, they look fantastic! The best part is they come off as easily as they go on. Once the party is over, the "peel and stick" decals can be moved to the child's bedroom for added decoration.
Another really cool wall decoration is a personalized banner complete with
your child's name.

Made with High Definition technology these banners are extremely durable for both indoors and outdoor use. Sizes range from 18" X 61" all the way up to 30" X 100". Wow! Obviously there are thousands of ways to personalize such as: "Welcome to our Party" or "We Love our Firefighters!" (Just thought I'd throw that one in for kicks). Now that you have some great ideas for the ceiling and walls, let's take a look at the table. Probably the most noticed part of your fire truck theme decorating will be the area where the food is served. That's probably why there are tons of stuff to choose from. In fact, here is a list of some of the firefighter related items you can use:
- Plates
- Napkins
- Cups
- Placemats
- Tablecloths
Can you imagine the fun the kids will have sitting down to eat cake and ice cream with these 9" plates? These are just way too cool!
While we are decorating the table, why not add some party favor boxes? These fire truck boxes come filled with all kinds of goodies. Check out the picture on the left to see the possibilities. Not only do these make great decorations but are also very handy for taking home all the party favors. Kind of like a portable toy box.
