How to Become Firefighter
"Information You Can Use"
There are countless articles and books on how to become firefighter. Some of the books appear to take what I call an "application to graduation" approach. In other words, they cover every step to becoming a fire fighter. These books begin from the time you enter the personnel office, till the day you graduate from the fire academy. Essentially, they are the "A to Z" on changing from civilian to fire fighter. Much of the information that is provided in these books can definitely be beneficial. With all this quality information that is available, there is certainly no need for me to repeat what has already been said. What I would like to give you, though, is some valuable information that I think will really help you.
This information is what I call the added dimension, as it goes above and beyond the traditional approach. The value of this information is that not only will it aid you now, but also as you rise through the ranks later on. (It is never too early to plan your fire service career). So what do I mean by this added dimension? Let me explain. In order to reach the fire fighter status, and be a good one at that, you must have the right character. If you are not a fire fighter on the inside, it will be tough to be one on the outside. To grasp what I am talking about let's quickly review the major steps that most candidates must take who want to enter the fire service.
