Winecoff Hotel Fire Book

Read the story HERE

The first source of information that I must direct you towards is the book, The Winecoff Hotel Fire: The Untold Story of America’s Deadliest Hotel Fire. Written by Sam Heys and Allen Goodwin, it is a very detailed account regarding the fire.

The majority of the information included in the story was compiled from eyewitness accounts, including those who were in the hotel on the night of December 7, 1946.

In addition, there are many details which help to paint a picture of what took place both before and after “America’s deadliest hotel fire.”

Having read the story, I am confident that the authors did an excellent job in researching the facts concerning this tragic event.

I found it extremely interesting to read the accounts of the individual guests as well as to know which room number they were in when the fire broke out.

Also included in the narrative are the course of events that lead the particular people to be at the Hotel on the night of the fire.

(Some of the guests were not there for the best of reasons).

In addition to their book, Heys and Goodwin have provided this reference website. Visiting this site will help keep you current on updates, as well as the survivors and their families.
