The Colt firefighter RockLoc pocketknife incorporates the famous RockLoc assisted opening. Find out the pros and cons of this Colt Fire Fighter pocket knife.
Here is my size up:
Size-up
Pros: The Colt Firefighter RockLoc is best noted for the assisted opening feature by custom knife maker Rocky Moser.
So what is assisted opening?
Simply begin pushing on the thumbstud of the Colt Firefighter RockLoc pocketknife and the spring-loaded system propels it open.
Warning: Once the spring activates the blade, it is very fast!
Safety Note
Make sure that all fingers are out of the way when opening the blade. My first attempt ended up with a nice blood blister where my finger got caught between the blade and the end of the knife. Ouch.
The Colt CT125 RockLoc knife comes with two thumbstuds which makes it user friendly for either right or left-handed firefighters.
Cons: The main thing that I did not like about this knife (other than the blood blister) was the small size of the thumbstud. It does not protrude very much and the small diameter kind of digs into your thumb. A little larger size would be a nice improvement.

Comments
One thing that is different about the Colt firefighter pocketknife CT125 is the release mechanism for the blade lock. Located on the spine of the handle, the lock is easily depressed with the thumb (even when wearing turn out gloves). However, since the lock is located near the middle of the handle it is very difficult to close it with one hand.
Along with the Colt Firefighter RockLoc CT0125, there are some additional knives made for firefighters by Colt. These are the
Colt CT-50FFS
, Colt Cobra II 97FFSB and the Colt Firefighter Rescue CT 0139R.
If you are looking for a quality firefighter knife with an assisted opening, the Colt firefighter RockLoc pocketknife may be just the ticket.
